A blog about my interests. Namely wrestling and MMA along with other stuff like video games and music.
Sad to hear about the passing of Ed Asner. Obviously, he'll forever be known as Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant as well as the movie Up but I know him best for his voice acting in the 90s including Hudson on Disney's Gargoyles and J. Jonah Jameson on FOX Kids' Spider-Man cartoon a.k.a. Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
So today is Spider-Man Day. Sounds great but it must be brought up that while Spider-Man is great there is one rule that The Simpsons taught us which is if you collect comics, you must never mix an "Amazing Spider-Man" in with the "Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man" series cause Comic Book Guy will not let that stand.
Originally, I wanted to wait for the 30th Anniversary of Wrestlemania IX before writing this but I'm not waiting another two years so I want to do it now and Wrestlemania 37 just came and went. Wrestlemania IX will forever go down as one of the most polarizing Wrestlemanias of all time as it does have it's supporters like me but it has plenty of critics. One of the main reasons people look down on this was the conclusion of the event which was to see Bret Hart defending the WWF Championship against Yokozuna but instead, it was Hulk Hogan who walked away from the event as a record setting five time WWF Champion. Many fans have hated the moment believing it never should've happened and how it was Hogan "stealing" Bret or Yoko's moment for his ego and how his act was stale. Well, I'm not one of them and not only is it one of my favorite Wrestlemania moments, I feel Hogan winning the WWF Championship was the right move. In this article, I'll explain why I feel Hogan walking away from Caesar's Palace on April 4, 1993 as WWF Champion was the best move.
Today would've been the 90th birthday of Leonard Nimoy who will obviously be forever known as Mr. Spock in the Star Trek franchise and was great. He also was great as the original voice of Master Xehanort in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Nimoy passed away in 2015 due to COPD.
Happy 5th Anniversary to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Yeah yeah, I know most consider the film to be a pile of crap but I liked it, so sue me.
Very sad to hear about the passing of Yaphet Kotto. He was a criminally underrated actor and probably deserved more fame than he got. He was great as the first black James Bond main villain Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big in Live and Let Die as well as Lt. Al Giardello on the awesome TV show Homicide: Life on the Street. He was also Agent Alonzo Mosley in Midnight Run, Parker in the first Alien film, was in The Running Man and Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, and was Emmy nominated for the TV film Raid on Entebbe. He was also considered for the role of Lando Calrissian in Star Wars and possibly Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
With the dawn of a new year, that usually means for the WWE that the Royal Rumble is coming up and thus begins the Road to Wrestlemania. Over the decades, many names have competed in the Royal Rumble and many all time greats are winners of it. Obviously, there are many names that clearly competed in a Rumble but there are some that may surprise you. With the Royal Rumble coming up, we'll take a look at some people and mostly legends who you may have either didn't know or forgot competed in a Royal Rumble.
