AJPW - Suwama's Theme - Dramatic Distance Suwana

Off by five days but Happy 45th birthday to Japanese wrestler Suwama. In my opinion, one of the most underrated wrestlers of the past decade.

We've reached the end of another year and in All Japan's case, that means it's once again time for their yearly World's Strongest Tag Determination League or Real World Tag League. This year, eight teams will battle it out with the hope of achieving tag team immortality. We'll take a look at each team and their chances of winning it.

Well, this is certainly interesting. The Champion's Carnival is coming but the month of April came and went. These last few months have been interesting as the pandemic has delayed the Carnival until September and after originally planning a big tournament of 18, they'll have to settle for 10. Some names were planned but won't be in it but some names that weren't planned will be. Nevertheless, this is the 40th Carnival, it still features great wrestlers, and history will be made as this is the first time a Champion Carnival tournament or tour will be taking place in the fall after nearly 50 years of being a spring event. We'll take a look at the participants and their chances of winning.

In Japanese Wrestling, there are many traditions and one of them is big tag team tournaments held in the fall and end of the year. Among those is All Japan's World's Strongest Tag Determination League which has been a fall tradition since it's debut all the way back in 1977. In the decades since it's debut, the winners have been among some of the all time great teams including Dory Funk Jr. and Terry Funk, Giant Baba and Jumbo Tsuruta, Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen, Jumbo Tsuruta and Genichiro Tenryu, Stan Hansen and Ted Dibiase, The Miracle Violence Connection of Steve Williams and Terry Gordy, Mitsuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi, The Holy Demon Army of Toshiaki Kawada and Akira Taue, and The Dudley Boyz/Team 3D to name some. With the yearly tradition coming up, I figure I take a look at every team and give the pluses and minuses they have going for them along with why I think they could win or not.

April 4th will kick off the yearly Champion Carnival, the top singles tournament for All Japan Pro Wrestling. The tournament has been won by a who's who in All Japan including Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta, Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, Kenta Kobashi, Akira Taue, Stan Hansen, Keiji "The Great Muta" Mutoh, Genichiro Tenryu, Satoshi Kojima, Kensuke Sasaki, and Suwama. This year will be the biggest in years with 18 competitors in 2 blocks of 9 with the traditional round robin format and the tour will span 18 days. With the tournament coming up, I figure I take a look at the participants and analyze their chances of winning as well as reasons why they may not win.
