It's that time of year where I give out my choices for what I believe is the best and worst in Mixed Martial Arts. I will pick the best and worst in MMA. To paraphrase Siskel and Ebert, these are the choices that these newsletters would pick if they were as smart as I am. Speaking of Siskel and Ebert, my worst awards will be done with the same rules as they used for worst movie which is I won't pick on obscure, little known fighters and companies no matter how bad they are. I'll pick on the big visible companies including since they're more likely to be seen by more people and therefore, cause more suffering. I also think it's only fair to inflict insults and give them the same amount of pain they gave us with their performances.

 

 

 

Another important note before beginning. Understand one thing which is that this is an MMA Awards article. When I say "MMA", I mean MMA. I'm not going to be Sherdog or the World MMA Awards and claim to give MMA awards but 90% are UFC choices.

It's that time of year again. It's the 2013 MMA Year-End Awards. I shall award both the best of the year as well as the worst of the year in the world of mixed martial arts. To quote film critic Gene Siskel said about the academy, the same is true for the MMA media. These are choices that they would give if they are as smart as I am (just kidding). My worst awards will be the same rules that Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert made years ago which is I won't pick on obscure fighters, fights, or promotions no matter how bad they are. I'll pick on the big visible ones since they're more likely to be seen by more people and therefore, cause more suffering (ok I used the same intro as I did for my wrestling awards but I like it).

Memo to the World MMA Awards 2013

It's that time of year. Around this time of year, the World MMA Awards from Fighter's Only Magazine begin to consider who should be nominated for their yearly awards. The great film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert used to have a “Memo to the Academy” special where they bring up actors, actresses, and movies they believed deserved nominations in an attempt to influence the vote. I liked the concept and decided to steal it. Since the World MMA Award usually only nominate fighters associated with Zuffa and specifically the UFC, I don't expect this to change anyone's mind but I'll still do it for fun. Here are the people and personalities that I believe deserve nominations. I won't bring up a lot of UFC names since most of the deserving individuals will likely get nominated. I'm going to focus on other companies who will likely be overlooked. Note that the 2013 awards are for events that happened between September 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013.
