Looking at American Wrestling for August 2013

This month the WWE will hold their second biggest event of the year when they hold Summerslam on August 18th. The event will feature John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship & CM Punk will face Brock Lesnar.

(Thoughts: Cena/Bryan is a mixed bag as Bryan deserves to be in this position but with the WWE being obsessed with Cena, it looks like they won't have Bryan win or the win will be shallow. Punk/Lesnar has been a well told story but it will be interesting to see how many appearances Lesnar makes before

TNA will have their One Night Only PPV on August 2nd. The event will feature rematches of some of the biggest matches in TNA's history. This includes Bobby Roode vs. James Storm and Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe. The company will continue their Bound For Glory series during this month as the talent involved will continue to attempt to rack up enough points where they have a great chance to win in September and earn a title shot at Bound For Glory. On August 15th, we'll see Chris Sabin defending the TNA World Heavyweight Title against former champion Bully Ray. This is a rematch from July 18th where Sabin scored the upset and won his first world title.

(Thoughts: As a TNA fan, I'm looking forward to the month of August. We have a World Title rematch and the continuation of the BFG series among many other things.)

Ring of Honor will be beginning a tournament to crown a new ROH World Champion. The tournament begins on August 3rd and will also feature New Japan wrestler KUSHIDA and the Forever Hooligans as well as the Young Bucks. ROH will also return to the Manhattan Center on August 17th.

(Thoughts: The ROH Tournament should be ok as anyone is better as ROH World Champion than the wretched Jay Briscoe. The New Japan guys are very talented especially KUSHIDA so they should have good matches.)

CZW will return August 10 for their yearly Tangled Web event. The main event will be Drew Blood and Scotty Vortekz vs. Lucky 13 and Danny Havoc. The event will also feature longtime CZW World Champion Masada defending against Drew Gulak and AR Fox defending the CZW Wired TV Title.

FIP Wrestling will have their Heatstroke event on August 9. The event will feature Jon Davis defending the FIP World Heavyweight Championship against Trent Baretta. Uhaa Nation will have an open challenge for his FIP Florida Heritage Championship.

This month will be huge for PWG. On August 9th, they will celebrate they're ten year anniversary and on the weekend of the 30th & 31th, they will hold their Battle of Los Angeles tournament. While all names aren't revealed, they're some good ones including ACH, Michael Elgin, Trent? (Trent Baretta), Kyle O'Reilly, and Chuck Taylor to name some.
