A Look at WWE Money In The Bank 2013
Pre-show/WWE Tag Team Championship: The Shield (c) vs. The Usos- Once again, I must praise the WWE for doing pre-show matches. This match could be a sleeper match and deserves to be on the main card. Both teams are very good and it's nice to see the Usos getting this chance. Sadly since it's a preshow match, it probably won't be given the time it should. The Shield will likely go over here but I think the Usos should win. If the Usos win it opens up the tag division since there are more challengers for the Usos like the Prime Time Players, Rhodes Scholars, and rematches with the Shield. The Shield has also lost some of their luster so by given them a feud it would breath new life into them.
WWE Diva's Championship: AJ Lee (c) vs. Kaitlyn- Another sleeper match. These two put on a very good match last month at Payback. I've been very impressed with the growth of both AJ and Kaitlyn over the last year. While it's disappointing it took long to make this feud, it's been good ever since. Given their match and their recent segments, I believe these two will get time to work a good match. I see AJ retaining here which will be sad as that will likely end the feud. Given that Kaitlyn's been close to Layla in recent weeks, it looks like Layla will turn on Kaitlyn and the two will feud from there. I feel bad for both girls since they along with Natalya are the only ones who are talented. So unless AJ feuds with Natalya, this means that both will be stuck with talentless deadweight for the forseeable future. On the plus side, these two remind me of Trish and Lita where I feel they'll always be at the top of the division and will always be intertwined with each other throughout their WWE runs.
WWE Intercontinental Championship: Curtis Axel (c) vs. The Miz- This match has potential but it'll probably be a snoozefest. The Miz has been horrible since becoming a babyface and Axel is still rough around the edges. Even worse both guys lost matches on the go home shows so neither look good going into this match. I see Axel retaining since the WWE seems high on him right now while Miz has been spinning his wheels for a long time.
Money In The Bank Ladder Match (WHC): Wade Barrett vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Damien Sandow vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Fandango vs. Antonio Cesaro- I'm mixed on this one. On one hand, it's nice to see these guys get a nice platform to showcase themselves. On the other hand, I'm not sure how they will perform in a ladder match. Ambrose and Rhodes should be the best in this environment. Cesaro and Fandango should be alright. I'm kind of doubtful about Barrett and Sandow. The match should be good but will probably be the weaker ladder match on the show. I'm guessing Barrett will win here since the WWE likes him and he and Ambrose are the only two in that position with Fandango & Cesaro being midcarders while Sandow & Rhodes are a tag team.
Chris Jericho vs. Ryback- Not sure what to think of this match. On paper, it could work but Jericho has been stale and unmotivated for a long time. Ryback has made some improvement as a heel but not enough. The match has potential but with the problems of both guys and Ryback becoming more cowardly, I see this one failing to deliver. I think Jericho will win here.
Money In The Bank Ladder Match (WWE): CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Sheamus vs. Christian vs. Kane vs. Rob Van Dam- This will probably be the better ladder match on the show. Punk, Bryan, Christian, Orton, and Van Dam have proven they are capable of putting on good performances in ladder matches. Sheamus is a good talent but doesn't come across as someone who has the right style for ladder matches. Kane is useless in this match as he's past his prime and isn't cut out for this type of match. This match has potential to be crazy especially with guys like Punk, Bryan, Christian, and Van Dam being in there. I think Bryan will win here since he's become one of the companies most popular wrestlers. Also Punk is heading for a feud with Brock Lesnar & possibly Curtis Axel. Orton & Sheamus are firmly in the midcard with no real direction. The WWE has never seen Christian as a main eventer and he just came back from a long layoff. Kane is past his prime and I think even WWE is smart enough to know that. Finally Van Dam is returning to the WWE at this event so it's doubtful they want him to win the MITB and he's also rumored to not be a full time wrestler either. With all that, Bryan is the best choice.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler- Honestly, who cares? These two are polar opposites. Ziggler is a guy who has the tools to be a top star for the WWE but never gets the chances to shine. On the other hand, Del Rio has absolutely nothing to justify his position and despite being one of the least over wrestlers, he continues to gets all these chances because the WWE and especially Vince are determined to have someone be a star for the hispanic market. This match will be as mediocre as it gets. Ziggler has the skills to put on great matches but Del Rio is extremely dull and will drag this match down so much. Del Rio will likely retain here since he's one of Vince's children and will continue to get shoved down our throats no matter how loud the fans snore through his matches and promos. There's also a good chance AJ and Big E. Langston will turn on Ziggler which will likely turn him babyface and give him something to do leading up to Summerslam.
WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. Mark Henry- This match is all the proof you need that hell exist. Words cannot describe how pathetic the WWE is for putting this match as the main event on a PPV and expecting people to pay $45 for it ($55 for HD). Cena and Henry are probably two of the worst wrestlers on the entire WWE roster. Cena is probably the most failed main eventer in wrestling history (at least in WWE history) while Henry is the biggest failure in WWE history. This match will suck in ways people thought wasn't possible for a match to suck. Cena is a terrible, sloppy wrestler while Henry is a boring, dull, plodding, lumbering oaf. This has all the ingredients to be a worst match of the year candidate. It doesn't matter who wins here because we all lose. Cena will obviously retain because he's Vince's boy and Vince would rather go bankrupt than give up on his crowd pandering court jester.
