Vampire Killer: A Look At Castlevania 35 Years Later

Vampire Killer: A Look At Castlevania 35 Years Later
September 25, 2021
By Ryan Porzl

If you haven't guessed already by my video game articles from this year, 1986 was a big year for the video game industry with one legendary franchise after another debuting. We've already talked about some of Nintendo's franchises like The Legend of Zelda and Metroid but they weren't the only company churning out a game that kickstarted a legendary franchise as 1986 saw the video game company Konami debut Castlevania. Taking place in the late 17th century, Castlevania tells the story of Simon Belmont, the latest in a long line of vampire hunters as he ventures into Castlevania to be the latest in his family to slay Count Dracula. Castlevania would launch a franchise and become one of the greatest platforming/side-scrolling games ever created. With the 35th anniversary on September 26th, let's look back at the game that started it all.

Kudos to google for paying tribute to Christopher Reeve on what would've been his 69th birthday.

The Legend of Mario's First RPG: A Look At Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 25 Years Later

The Legend of Mario's First RPG: A Look At Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 25 Years Later
September 20, 2021

For over 40 years, Mario has been one of the most recognizable and greatest characters in video game history with the character has been in one classic after another. However, while most associate Mario with side scrolling and platforming games, fans were treated to a different Mario in 1996 when Mario made his debut in a Role Playing Game or RPG. That game would be Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars which saw Mario form alliances with new characters and even familiar faces including his archenemy in an attempt to retrieve seven magical stars and to defeat a new threat to the Mushroom Kingdom. With the 25th Anniversary having come in Spring 2021, it's time we take a look back at Mario RPG, one of Mario's best games. This article does contain spoilers.

Guns N' Roses - Estranged

Not only a great song but I like the music video even though it's cheesy. Like I said years ago, I love the concert footage because the song sound sad at times and the footage is from their June 26, 1993 concert in Germany which was the last time this song was not only played on the Use Your Illusion tour but the 2+ year tour ended a month later on July 17, 1993 and I remember the band saying they never wanted the tour to end because they knew when it did, the band was over. In a way, knowing when the footage takes place and the sound of the song, it feels like the end was near.

Guns N' Roses - Yesterdays

Guns N' Roses - November Rain

One of the greatest songs/ballads of all time. As mentioned, the music video was inspired by the short story "Without You" which was written by GnR's road manager and Axl's good friend Del James. James later added it to his book of short stories called The Language of Fear which Axl wrote the forward to.

Guns N' Roses - Don't Cry

Happy 30th Anniversary to Guns N' Roses two albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Like I pointed out years ago, lot of interesting notes on this music video as it was shot after Izzy Stradlin left but before Gilby Clarke was hired. The tombstone spot is incredibly ironic as it says Axl lived to be 28 years old and while thankfully he and the other band members lived beyond that, the same couldn't be said for guest vocalist Shannon Hoon (who appears in the video) as he passed away of an overdose at 28 in 1995.

GC - Back in Town

Happy 25th Anniversary to the George Carlin special Back in Town.

Hellraiser

Great collaboration between Osbourne and Zakk Wylde with Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister who recorded a version of the song for Motorhead's 1992 album March or Die.

OZZY OSBOURNE - "Road to Nowhere" (Official Video)

Happy 30th Anniversary to the Ozzy Osbourne album No More Tears, the last to feature bassist Bob Daisley (though Mike Inez is in the videos and tour) and the last studio album to feature drummer Randy Castillo.

I just had a great idea. Someone should take a Cinderella adaption and incorporate as much references and lyrics from the band Cinderella possible like quote their song "Don't Know What You Got Till It's Gone". I can see Cinderella ask the stepmother she don't know what it is she did so wrong.

Wrestlers Who You Likely Didn't Know or Forgot Held A Title In A Promotion (World Championship Wrestling)

Wrestlers Who You Likely Didn't Know or Forgot Held A Title In A Promotion (World Championship Wrestling)
September 7, 2021
By Ryan Porzl

Awhile back I began a series where I looked at wrestlers who people knew about but likely didn't know held a title or forgot they held a title in a promotion. The first in this series, I looked at New Japan Pro Wrestling. Now, the series returns with me looking at WCW. Once the #2 and briefly #1 wrestling company in the world, WCW was able to briefly overcome the WWF which no one else has done since Vince's nationwide expansion began in 1984. Now, I'll look back at stars and legends who you may have forgotten held a title there. I should point out before I begin that I'm only covering WCW from the time NWA became WCW to when the WWF bought them so January 1991 to March 2001. I won't cover the NWA/Jim Crockett reigns or WWF owned WCW.

Off by a day but September 5th would've been the 75th birthday of Freddie Mercury. Hard to believe.

You know what's genius? The game show Supermarket Sweep. Think about it. Who'd a thought turning one of the most boring things in the world: food shopping and make it fun entertainment by having contestants running around like maniacs across a super market filling carts? They not only make food shopping fun but they made WATCHING others food shop fun.
