Celebrities You May Not Have Known Were In James Bond Films

Celebrities You May Not Have Known Were In James Bond Films

By Ryan Porzl

With the James Bond movie series having been around for 55 years, it's well known many big celebrities have come through it. Everybody knows most of them as everyone knows Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan has been James Bond to Jane Seymour, Denise Richards, and Halle Barry were Bond girls to Christopher Lee, Christopher Walken, Javier Bardem, & Christoph Waltz were Bond villains. However, there's much more than them. Did you know the original Steve McGarrett and Quint from Jaws were in Bond films? Did you know Tattoo from Fantasy Island, Kojak, Vicki Vale from Batman, and two X-Men were too? What about Ned Stark from Game of Thrones? The knight who played chess against Death? Two members of The Fellowship of the Ring? Even Lord Voldemort? They all did and then some. Here now is a list of actors and celebrities that you may know of but have no idea were in James Bond films.

Jack Lord (Felix Leiter, Dr. No/1962)- Lord is best known for his long tenure as Steve McGarrett on the original Hawaii Five-O TV show from it's premiere in 1968 to it's end in 1980.

In James Bond, Lord is best known as the original Felix Leiter, Bond's CIA friend and liason. In Dr. No, Leiter works as a CIA liason to Bond while he's in Jamaica to investigate the murder of MI6 agent Strangways and the activities of the mysterious Dr. No. Lord would be the first of many to play the CIA agent.

Robert Shaw (Donald "Red" Grant, From Russia With Love/1963)- Shaw is best known for his role as shark hunter Quint in 1975's Jaws, mobster Doyle Lonnegan in 1973's The Sting, Col. Martin Hessler in 1965's Battle of the Bulge, The Sheriff of Nottingham in 1976's Robin & Marion (which reunited him with Sean Connery), and his Academy Award nominated performance as Henry VIII in 1966's A Man for All Seasons.

In James Bond, Shaw is best know for playing iconic henchmen Donald "Red" Grant. Originally a killer who escaped from prison and was eventually recruited & trained by SPECTRE, Grant was used by Colonel Rosa Klebb in SPECTRE's mission to steal a Lektor decoder and get revenge on James Bond for the killing of Dr. No. Grant was to follow Bond and clerk Tatiana Romanova (who was being used by Klebb and was not aware of Klebb's defection from SMERSH to SPECTRE) around, help them retrieve the Lektor, and murder them with it looking like a murder/suicide to humiliate Bond and MI6 by creating the illusion Romanova was blackmailing Bond into marrying her in exchange for helping him get the Lektor with footage Grant and Klebb filmed in their bridal suite without either one's knowledge. Afterwards, Grant was to deliver the Lektor to SPECTRE who would sell it back to the Russians for a price. As mentioned, Grant is one of the most iconic characters in James Bond history and was the first strong, blonde haired henchmen which would become a popular trope used for decades in Bond movies with Hans in 1967's You Only Live Twice, Erich Kriegler in 1981's For Your Eyes Only, Necros in 1987's The Living Daylights, and Mr. Stamper in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies.

David Niven (Sir James Bond, Casino Royale/1967)- Niven is best known for his role as Major David Angus Pollack in 1958's Separate Ways (which he won an Academy Award for), "The Phantom" Sir Charles Lytton in The Pink Panther series, and Phileas Fogg in 1956's Around The World In Eighty Days.

In James Bond, Niven played an older Sir James Bond in the spoof version of Casino Royale who is called back to service to face SMERSH and becomes the head of MI6 following the death of M. Ironically, Niven was originally recommended for the role of Bond in 1962's Dr. No by Bond author Ian Fleming but producer Albert R. "Cubby" Broccoli turned it down feeling Niven was too old.

Peter Sellers (Evelyn Tremble/James Bond 007, Casino Royale/1967)- Sellers is considered one of the comic geniuses in the history of comedy. He's best known for co-starring in the radio show The Goon Show, starred as Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the Pink Panther series, Clare Quilty in 1962's Lolita, and his multiple roles in 1964's Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb.

In Bond, Sellers played Evelyn Tremble who was an expert baccarat player who would be one of many who used the alias "James Bond" to throw off SMERSH. Tremble would be recruited for his baccarat skills to defeat Le Chiffre at Casino Royale.

Orson Welles (Le Chiffre, Casino Royale/1967)- Welles is best known for acting and directing including starring, writing, producing, and directing 1941's Citizen Kane which has been considered one of, if not, the greatest movie ever made. Welles also is known for his 1938 radio performance for War of the Worlds, directing 1942's The Magnificant Ambersons, voicing mysterious writer Robin Masters on the television show Magnum PI, and voicing main villain Unicron in 1986's The Transformers: The Movie.

In Bond, Welles played Le Chiffre, a SMERSH financial agent who embezzled money from them and is now desperately trying to pay it back. He plays games of baccarat to win enough money to pay off his debts.

Woody Allen (Dr. Noah/Jimmy Bond, Casino Royale/1967)- Allen is best known for being one of the greatest directors and screenwriters of all time directing movies such as 1977's Annie Hall, 1986's Hannah and Her Sisters, and 2013's Blue Jasmine.

In Bond, Allen played Sir James Bond's nephew Jimmy Bond. Jimmy Bond is revealed as an agent of SMERSH who used the alias "Dr. Noah" and had previously defected from MI6 to spite his uncle. His plan is to make all women beautiful and to kill all men over 4'6 so he could be "the big man" and get all the women.

Donald Pleasence (Ernst Stavro Blofeld, You Only Live Twice/1967)- Pleasence is best known for his long run as Dr. Sam Loomis in the Halloween films from 1978's Halloween to 1995's Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (with the exception of Halloween III: Season of the Witch), The President of the United States in 1981's Escape From New York, George in 1966's Cul-de-sac, SEN 5241 in 1971's THX 1138, RAF Flight Lieutenant Colin Blythe in 1963's The Great Escape, and Clarence "Doc" Tydon in 1971's Wake In Flight.

In James Bond, Pleasence played Bond nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld. In You Only Live Twice, Blofeld used his organization SPECTRE to work with the Chinese Government to hijack American and Soviet space ships during the space race and make it come off as if the other is responsible in an attempt to start a war. Pleasence's Blofeld was the first to reveal his identity as Blofeld's previous appearances in From Russia With Love and Thunderball did not show his face. Pleasence's Blofeld has the most famous look with the scar down his eye which is a look that EON Productions' paid tribute to in Spectre as Blofeld got a similar scar while the look was also used for Dr. Evil (who was based off of Blofeld) in the Austin Powers' movies.

Telly Sevalas (Ernst Stavro Blofeld, On Her Majesty's Secret Service/1969)- Sevalas is best known for his Academy Award nominated performance as Feto Gomez in 1962's Birdman of Alcatraz, Tank Sgt. Guffy in 1965's Battle of the Bulge, Archer Maggot in 1967's The Dirty Dozen, and as Theo Kojak on the television show Kojak. Modern day people probably know him as the godfather of actress Jennifer Aniston with Aniston actually being born the same year as On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Sevalas is best known in the James Bond Universe as one of many to play Ernst Stavro Blofeld. In On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Sevalas' Blofeld created a powerful virus called "Virus Omega" which is capable of wiping out all living things but hides himself and the virus by claiming his resort in the Swiss Alps is an allergy clinic. Along the way, he tricks women going there for treatment by hypnotizing them so they can serve as his "Angels of Death" while he alters his appearances in the hopes of claiming the title of Comte Balthazar de Bleuchamp. After getting exposed by Bond, Blofeld reveals that he plans to demand money, a pardon for all his past crimes, and the title or he'll send his Angels out to unleash the virus. Sevalas' more suave version of Blofeld has usually been the most popular portrayal of Bond's arch nemesis.

Yaphet Kotto (Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big, Live and Let Die/1973)- Kotto is best known for his Emmy nominated performance as Ugandan President Idi Amin in 1977's Raid on Entebbe, Parker in 1979's Alien, William Laughlin in 1987's The Running Man, Agent Alonzo Mosley in 1988's Midnight Run, Lieutenant Al Giardello on the television series Homicide: Life on the Streets and it's 2000 Made for TV movie Homicide: The Movie.

Kotto is best known in the James Bond universe as Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big, the main villain in Live and Let Die. Kananga is the dictator of the fictional Caribbean island San Monique while also using the alias Mr. Big who leads the biggest gang in Harlem along with owning a chain of restaurants called "Fillet of Soul". Taking advantage of being a dictator which grants him certain immunities, he smuggles heroin into the United States that he develops in San Monique which is protected by the voodoo eye of Baron Samedi. His plan is flood America with heroin that he would distribute through his Fillet of Soul restaurants free of charge which would result in running all his competitors out of business and thus, giving him a monopoly on the heroin market. After that, he believes it would add more addicts and he can then charge more than most would for it seeing as he would be the only distributor in the country. In the meantime, he also uses median Solitaire to stay one step ahead of everyone.

Herve Villechaize (Nick Nack, The Man With The Golden Gun/1974)- Villechaize is best known for playing Tattoo on the television show Fantasy Island.

In James Bond, Villechaize is best known for playing Nick Nack. Villechaize's Nick Nack appeared in The Man With The Golden Gun as the midget (for the record, Villechaize insisted on being called a midget instead of dwarf) sidekick of main villain Francisco Scaramanga. Nick Nack would assist Scramanga in stealing a device called the solex agitator which was an important part of a solar power station after Scramanga was hired to assassinate the scientist who had it and to steal it for industrialist Hai Fat (who Scaramanga later kills and takes over Fat's plans for it). Nick Nack's relationship with Scaramanga is interesting to say the least. Despite being his assistant and butler while being tasked with many jobs, Nick Nack is not entirely loyal to Scaramanga and has routinely hired assassins to take out Scaramanga since he would inherit his fortune. Interestingly enough, Scaramanga knows all about it but puts up with it since he uses it for training and to keep his skills sharp between jobs while acting like it's a game.

Michel Lonsdale (Hugo Drax, Moonraker/1979)- Though mostly known for his work in his native France, Lonsdale is best known to American and British audiences for his BAFTA nominated performance as detective Claude Lebel in 1973's The Day of the Jackal and as M. Dupont d'Ivry in 1993's The Remains of the Day.

In the James Bond universe, Lonsdale played main villain Hugo Drax in Moonraker. Drax was a billionaire industrialist who owned Drax Industries which specializes in constructing space shuttles for NASA. Drax's scheme was to have his scientists create a lethal toxin from a black orchid while carefully handpicking men and women who suit his standards for a "master race" and then would send himself and his people to space where he would use the toxin to wipe out the human race while they remain on his space shuttles. Eventually when the toxin wore off, they would return to Earth where the chosen people would become his "master race" and populate the planet while he becomes ruler. Lonsdale would reprise the role of Drax in the 2012 video game 007 Legends.

Julian Glover (Aristotle Kristatos, For Your Eyes Only/1981)- Glover is best known as General Maximilian Veers in 1980's Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Brian Harcourt-Smith in 1987's The Fourth Protocol, main villain Walter Donovan in 1989's Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, and Grand Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones.

In James Bond, Glover is best known for playing Aristotle Kristatos. A Greek smuggler, Kristatos appears in For Your Eyes Only where he plans to steal the ATAC, a device that the Ministry of Defense uses to communicate and co-ordinate with the Royal Navy's submarines, and sell it to the Soviets. While doing this, Kristatos meets Bond and presents himself as an ally while trying to frame his old partner turned rival Milos Columbo before eventually being revealed as the main villain. Glover's role as Kristatos is interesting for many reasons. One is the fact that Kristatos presents himself as an ally to the main hero but is eventually revealed as the main villain which has become somewhat of a trademark for Glover since his character Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade is identical as he presents himself as an ally to Indiana only to be revealed as the main villain. Second is that Glover was on the short list to replace Sean Connery (Ironically his Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade co-star) as Bond in 1972 before the role went to his co-star Roger Moore.

Chaim Topol (Milos Columbo, For Your Eyes Only/1981)- Topol is best known for his portrayal of Tevye on Fiddler on the Roof on and off for 40 years in theater, broadway, and the 1971 movie. He also played Hans Zarkov in 1980's Flash Gordon.

In Bond, Topol played Columbo. Appearing in For Your Eyes Only, Columbo was a former partner to Aristotle Kristatos before becoming a rival to him in smuggling. For most of the film, Columbo is depicted as being responsible for everything happening with Kristatos hoping to mislead Bond enough to the point where Bond will kill his rival before Kristatos can kill Bond and sell the ATAC to the Soviets. Eventually, Columbo proves to Bond he's being set up and helps him to stop Kristatos while being able to settle the score once and for all.

Kim Basinger (Domino Petachi, Never Say Never Again/1983)- Basinger is best known for playing Vicki Vale in 1989's Batman, her Academy Award winning performance as Lynn Bracken 1997's LA Confidential, and Eminem's mother Stephanie Smith in 2002's 8 Mile.

In James Bond, Basinger played Domino Petachi. Appearing in the Thunderball remake Never Say Never Again, Basinger's Domino is the girlfriend of main villain Maximillian Largo but is unaware of his ties to SPECTRE or that he is a criminal. Also unbeknownst to her, Largo and SPECTRE use her brother Jack, who they control through the use of heroin, to help SPECTRE steal warheads which they can use to hold the world for ransom and then proceed to kill him. After finding out the truth, she eventually helps Bond stop Largo and is able to avenge her brother.

Rowan Atkinson (Nigel Small-Fawcett, Never Say Never Again/1983)- Atkinson is best known for his character Mr. Bean which had it's own TV show and movies. He also played Johnny English (ironically a James Bond parody) in the Johnny English film series and Zazu in 1994's The Lion King.

Appearing in Never Say Never Again, Atkinson played Nigel Small-Fawcett, the bumbling Foreign Office Representative to the Bahamas who briefs Bond when he heads there and investigates Maximillian Largo while informing him that Largo was heading to France. He later appears at the end to tell Bond that M wants to plead with him to return to MI6. As mentioned, Atkinson would later play Johnny English who is a parody of James Bond.

Max Von Sydow (Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Never Say Never Again/1983)- Von Sydow is best known as the knight Antonius Block who challenges Death to a game of chess in 1957's The Seventh Seal, his Academy Award nominated performances as Lassefar in 1987's Pelle the Conqueror & The Renter in 2011's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Ming the Merciless in 1980's Flash Gordon, Jesus in 1965's The Greatest Story Ever Told, Lor San Tekka in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The Three-eyed Raven in Game of Thrones.

Von Sydow appears in Never Say Never Again as SPECTRE head Ernst Stavro Blofeld who, like Thunderball, played a background role and allowed Largo to orchestrate the plot which was hijacking nuclear bombs and holding the world for ransom. Similar to Thunderball, Blofeld is mostly in the background and briefs SPECTRE members on the plot along with Largo and is the one who delivers the ransom message but unlike Thunderball, Blofeld's face is seen in the movie instead of being hidden.

John Rhys-Davies (General Leonid Pushkin, The Living Daylights/1987)- Rhys-Davies is best known for playing Sallah in 1981's Indiana Jones & The Raiders of The Lost Ark as well as 1989's Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade and Gimli in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. He also has done voice work including Aladdin's father Cassim in 1996's Aladdin and The King of Thieves, MacBeth in Gargoyles, and Manray in Spongebob Squarepants.

In James Bond, Rhys-Davies played General Leonid Pushkin in The Living Daylights. Pushkin replaced the long running character General Antol Gogol as the head of the KGB. Pushkin gets framed during the first part of the movie by fellow Soviet general Gorgi Koskov who defected to the west to avoid arrest for embezzling (something MI6 didn't know) with Koskov "informing" MI6 including Bond that Pushkin had reinstated the Smiert Spiornam (Death to Spies) program and was responsible for the death of two agents. After being confronted by Bond who finds out the truth, the two fake Pushkin's death which would allow Bond to investigate what Koskov is planning and during this time, finds out Koskov has been working with American arms dealer Brad Whittaker to use Russian state funds to buy Afghan opium to sell on the American market which would allow Koskov to purchase arms from Whittaker for the Soviet army. Koskov had wanted Pushkin dead not only to avoid arrest but due to Pushkin later visiting with Whittaker and cancelling an order Koskov had made while demanding the money Koskov gave to Whittaker back. Rhys-Davies and his General Leonid Pushkin character were last minute additions as General Gogol (who appeared in the previous five Bond movies) was supposed to be the one framed but actor Walter Gotell wasn't in good health so the story was rewritten with Pushkin being added while Gogol had a cameo with the story being he transferred to another area of the KGB.

Benicio Del Toro (Dario, Licence To Kill/1989)- Del Toro is best known for his Academy Award winning performance as Javier Rodriguez in 2000's Traffic, his Academy Award nominated performance as Jack Jordan in 2003's 21 Grams, Fred Fenster in 1995's The Usual Suspects, Jackie Boy in 2005's Sin City, Che Guevara in 2008's Che, and Alejandro in 2015's Sicario.

Appearing in Licence To Kill, Del Toro played Dario, a switchblade wielding psychopath who was a former contra before getting kicked out. By the time the movie takes place, he serves as the top henchmen of drug lord and main villain Franz Sanchez. Dario was used for several of Sanchez's missions including retrieving his girlfriend in the Bahamas and the capture of Bond's friend Felix Leiter and the murder of his wife which leads to Bond going on his vendetta. Dario is also the one who blows Bond's cover after Bond had been presenting himself as an ally to Sanchez as he tried to get closer to his target (Sanchez). At 21 years old, Del Toro is the youngest actor to play a Bond villain. He's also the second academy award winning actor to play a Bond villain (after Christopher Walken in A View To A Kill) but unlike Walken and later Javier Berdum (Raoul Silva in Skyfall) and Christophe Waltz (Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Spectre), Del Toro had yet to win his academy award at the time of filming.

Wayne Newton (Professor Joe Butcher, Licence To Kill/1989)- Newton is best known for being a Las Vegas entertainer for decades which earned him the nickname "Mr. Las Vegas".

Appearing in Licence To Kill, Newton played Professor Joe Butcher, a televangelist who ran the Olimpatec Meditation Institute which served as a front for Sanchez's drug smuggling operation while Butcher would go on TV to give messages to Sanchez's international distributors via code with the code being him asking for donations and announcing a goal with the goal being Sanchez's asking price for a kilogram of cocaine. Despite his Institute being only intended as a front, it's been able to make money.

Sean Bean (Alec Trevalyan, Goldeneye/1995)- Bean is best known as Richard Sharpe in the television show Sharpe, Boromir in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Eddard "Ned" Stark in the first season of Game of Thrones.

In the Bond universe, Bean is best known as Alec Trevalyan. Appearing in Goldeneye, Trevalyan was a Cossack who was orphaned after his father murdered his mother and committed suicide due to the shame of them and the other Cossacks being betrayed by England, sent back to Joseph Stalin who had them executed though Trevalyan's parents somehow survived it before the murder/suicide, and the guilt of leaving comrades behind. Believing he was too young to remember, Trevalyan was eventually taken in by MI6 and ironically went to work for them where he earned 00 status and became 006. During this time, he worked with Bond on many missions and the two became good friends. However, Trevalyan remembered everything and as seen in the beginning of Goldeneye, faked his death during a mission with Bond. Now "dead", Trevalyan spent the next nine years hidden in the shadows as he created The Janus Syndicate and expanded it as he waited for the right time for revenge. Ready to enact his revenge, Trevalyan has General Ourumov and Xenia Onatopp steal the Goldeneye (a satellite that is capable of firing an electromagnetic pulse) from Severnaya base, steal from the Bank of London via computer, and then have Boris Greshenko program it to attack London which would result in wiping out London's economy and all their records thus London would "reenter the Stone Age". Prior to being cast as Trevalyan, Bean was actually on the short list to replace Roger Moore as James Bond back in 1986 along with his Goldeneye co-star Pierce Brosnan.

Alan Cumming (Boris Greshenko, Goldeneye/1995)- Cumming is best known for his Tony Award winning performance as The Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret, Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United, Mr. Fegan Foop in the Spy Kids trilogy, his Emmy nominated performance as Eli Gold in the television series The Good Wife, and the host of Masterpiece Mystery!.

In James Bond, Cumming is best known as Boris Greshenko. Appearing in Goldeneye, Boris is a talented but a perverted, arrogant computer programmer who worked at Severnaya before selling them out and joining the Janus Syndicate before they stole the Goldeneye. After joining, Boris was used to program the Goldeneye satellite which Alec Trevalyan planned to use on London for revenge. He's also known for his arrogant claim "I am Invincible!" whenever he succeeded in something or survived something.

Famke Janssen (Xenia Onatopp, Goldeneye/1995)- Janssen is best known for being the original Jean Grey in the X-Men movie series, as Liam Neeson's ex-wife Lenore Mills in the Taken trilogy, and Ava Moore in Nip/Tuck.

Appearing in Goldeneye, Janssen portrayed Xenia Onatopp, a ex-Soviet fighter pilot who joined Alec Trevalyan's Janus Syndicate sometime after the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. A top Janus member, Onatopp used her sexual charms to murder an admiral and two pilots which allowed Janus to hijack an EMP protected Tiger Helicopter. From there, she seconded General Ourumov to Severnaya base where she murdered almost everyone (except Boris and Bond girl Natalya Simonova who hid during the attack), stole the Goldeneye, and set it off which allowed them to cover their tracks while the Tiger Helicopter protected them from the EMP blast. Along the way, she had many run ins with Bond which first started cordial before becoming more violent with each meeting and leading to a deadly end for her.

Robbie Coltrane (Valentin Zukovsky, Goldeneye/1995 & The World Is Not Enough/1999)- Coltrane is best known as Dr. Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald in the television series Cracker and Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series.

Coltrane is best known in the James Bond universe as playing Valentin Zukovsky. Prior to the events of Goldeneye, Zukovsky was a KGB agent who had a run in with Bond resulting in Bond shooting him in the knee which gave him a permanent limp that aches "every single day and twice as badly if cold" before Bond took his car and girl.

First appearing in Goldeneye, Zukovsky had now been a mafia head who ran several businesses including the bar he meets Bond in as well as a casino and caviar factory as seen in The World Is Not Enough. Bond meets with him in St. Petersburg at his bar with the hope that Zukovsky can set him up with Janus (Alec Trevelyan). After a tense beginning, the two strike a deal while Zukovsky also brings up an important detail that while he didn't know who Janus was, he knew he was a Cossack.

Zukovsky would later return in The World Is Not Enough with Bond visiting him at his Casino in an attempt to get information on the anarchist Renard who is supposedly targeting oil heiress Elektra King who Bond is assigned to protect. In the meantime, he loans King his submarine, not knowing King and Renard are working together and plan to use it to cause a nuclear blast in the waters and destroy Elektra's rivals' pipelines thus giving her a monopoly on the oil. After nearly getting killed a few times, Zukovsky plans a raid against Elektra who also had Bond captured but gets shot by Elektra. Before dying, Zukovsky uses his gun cane to shoot at one of Bond's shackles which allows Bond to get free and eventually foil Elektra and Renard's plan.

Jonathan Pryce (Elliot Carver, Tomorrow Never Dies/1997)- Pryce is best known as Sam Lowry in 1985's Brazil, James Lingk in the 1992 movie adaptation of Glengarry Glen Ross, Governor Weatherby Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, his Tony Award winning performance as The Engineer in Miss Saigon, and The High Sparrow in Game of Thrones.

In Bond, Pryce played Elliot Carver. Appearing in Tomorrow Never Dies, Carver is a powerful media mogul or as Bond calls him a "worldwide media baron" who is "able to topple governments with a single broadcast". A power hungry individual, Carver is not afraid to use his media to squash his rivals or to gain any advantage. By the events of the movie, Carver planned to launch a satellite that could reach everyone worldwide except the Chinese who refused broadcasting rights but Carver had a remedy for that. Striking a deal with a Chinese general named General Chang, Carver was given stealth equipment and used it to create a stealth boat. From there, Carver would have techno terrorist Henry Gupta use an American military GPS encoder (which Gupta obtained from a terrorist arms bazaar to throw off the royal navy ship the HMS Devonshire into Vietnamese waters but close enough to Chinese territorial waters that the Chinese Air Force think they're invading. Carver's boat which is being led by right hand man Mr. Stamper would fire at one of the Chinese planes, then use a drill to sink the Devonshire, and then gun down any Devonshire survivors with guns used by the Chinese Air Force to make it look like the Devonshire was responsible for the missile attack on Chinese plane while making it look like the Chinese were responsible for the Devonshire sinking. Carver not only gets ratings for tensions between China and the United Kingdom but he also solves his China problem as his people acquired a missile from the Devonshire which he plans to launch into Bejing which would wipe out most of China's leaders and install Chang as the new leader of China. In return, Carver would get exclusive broadcast rights in China for the next 100 years.

Teri Hatcher (Paris Carver, Tomorrow Never Dies/1997)- Hatcher is best known as Lois Lane on the television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Susan Mayer on the television series Desperate Housewives.

In James Bond, Hatcher played Paris Carver, the former ex lover of James Bond. Appearing in Tomorrow Never Dies, Paris was previously in a relationship with Bond years before until Bond left her because of his job which she was aware of. She reunites with Bond in the movie as Paris is now married to Carver while Bond is investigating him though she pretends to have barely known Bond in front of her husband. Eventually, she helps by giving Bond information and briefly rekindles her relationship but it eventually turns deadly when Carver finds out and has her murdered which affects Bond for most of the movie as he becomes more about seeking revenge.

John Cleese (R/Q, The World Is Not Enough/1999 & Die Another Day/2002)- Cleese is best known is one of the comic geniuses in comedy as he co-starred and co-created Monty Python's Flying Circus as well as their four movies, co-created and starred as Basil Fawlty in the television series Fawlty Towers, co-starred and co-wrote 1988's A Fish Called Wanda, played Nearly Headless Nick in the Harry Potter Series, and King Harold in the Shrek series.

In the James Bond universe, Cleese is best known as R and third to portray Q. Cleese first appeared in The World Is Not Enough as "R" (not his official name but one Bond gives him), Q's assistant who is being groomed to eventually take over one day. However, during the events of the movie, R is sort of bumbling and has a long way to go.

Following the death of Desmond Llewelyn (Q) shortly after the release of The World Is Not Enough in December 1999, Cleese replaced him as the next Q. Cleese returned in Die Another Day as the new quartermaster who assigns Bond his gadgets for his upcoming mission. Unlike The World Is Not Enough, Cleese plays the character more serious and is more competent but like his predecessor, would go back and forth with Bond while not having much patience to Bond's attitude or wit.

Rosamund Pike (Miranda Frost, Die Another Day/2002)- Pike is best known for playing Elizabeth Malet in 2004's The Libertine, Jane Bennett in 2005's Pride and Prejudice, Sam Chamberlain in 2013's The World's End, and her Academy Award nominated performance as Amy Elliot Dunne in 2014's Gone Girl.

In Bond, Pike played Miranda Frost in Die Another Day. An MI6 agent, Frost was also a Harvard graduate and champion fencer who earned a gold medal at the Olympics after the real winner overdosed. During the events of the movie, she's sent undercover by MI6 to investigate main villain Gustav Graves by posing as his publicist and eventually travels to Iceland with Bond when he begins his investigation. Unbeknownst to either Bond or MI6, Frost is actually a double agent as she knew Graves when they were both in Harvard (during which time Graves was still North Korean Colonel Moon as he had yet to undergo his gene therapy) and became loyal to him when he arranged for the overdose which allowed Frost to win the gold medal by default. Frost was also responsible for blowing Bond's cover in North Korea when he was assigned to assassinate Moon which eventually led to his fourteen month imprisonment. Frost would reveal all this and betrayed Bond in Iceland during his confrontation with Graves. She would then side with Graves for the remainder of the movie until her death at the hands of Jinx.

Michael Madsen (Damian Falco, Die Another Day/2002)- Madsen is best known for his long time collaboration with director Quentin Tarentino playing Mr. Blonde/Vic Vega in 1992's Reservoir Dogs, Budd in both Kill Bill films, and Joe Gage/Grouch Douglass in 2016's The Hateful Eight. He's also played Jimmy Lennox in 1991's Thelma and Louise, Virgil Earp in 1994's Wyatt Earp, and Detective Bob in 2005's Sin City.

In James Bond, Madsen played Damian Falco. Falco appeared in Die Another Day working as an NSA (National Security Agency) Chief who, along with Bond girl Jinx, works alongside MI6 throughout the movie against top villain Gustav Graves who attempted to destroy the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea with his Icarus satellite laser which would allow North Korea to invade. Falco was also present when Bond was being traded back to England in exchange for villain Zao after previously been imprisoned for fourteen months and then was seen with MI6 officials in a bunker near the demilitarized zone as Graves attempts to destroy it.

Albert Finney (Kincade, Skyfall/2012)- Finney is best known for his Academy Award nominated performances as Tom Jones in 1963's Tom Jones, Hercule Poirot in 1974's Murder on the Orient Express, Sir in 1983's The Dresser, and Ed Masry in 2000's Erin Brockovich. He also played Ebenezer Scrooge in 1970's Scrooge, Edward Bloom Sr. in 2003's Big Fish, and Dr. Albert Hirsch in the Jason Bourne series.

Appearing in Skyfall, Finney played Kincade, the former gamekeeper of Skyfall Lodge and the Bond Family Estate in Scotland. Bond takes M there when she's being targeted by Raoul Silva and Bond plans to use the Estate to set up a trap during the climax of the film. Kincade would then assist Bond and M in fighting off Silva and his men during his invasion on the estate while then attempting to help the wounded M to safety after she gets shot. Prior to the casting of Finney, director Sam Mendes claimed that Sean Connery was briefly considered for the role but they ultimately decided against it feeling Connery's presence would distract.

Ralph Fiennes (Gareth Mallory/M, Skyfall/2012 & Spectre/2015)- Fiennes is best known for his Academy Award nominated performances as Amon Goth in 1993's Schindler's List and Count Almasy in 1996's The English Patient. He's also played Charles Van Doren in 1994's Quiz Show, Francis Dolarhyde in 2002's Red Dragon, Monsieur Gustave H. in 2014's The Grand Budapust Hotel, Alfred Pennyworth in 2016's The Lego Batman Movie, and Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series.

Fiennes first appears in Skyfall as Gareth Mallory, the Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee which makes him the intermediary between MI6 and The British Government while also allowing him to regulate MI6. After M dies at the end of the film, Mallory succeeds her as the new M.

Mallory/M returns in Spectre and is still M. During the events of the film, he clashes with Bond who has gone into business for himself targeting someone at the request of the previous M which leads to the events of the movie while he's in a power struggle that could see the "00" section eliminated. All of these events eventually lead to Spectre. Ironically, Fiennes auditioned for the James Bond role in 1994 following Timothy Dalton's departure before Pierce Brosnan was cast. Even more ironic was that his first movie would've been Goldeneye which was Judi Dench's debut who he ended up replacing a M seventeen years later.
