Bellator 105 Predictions

By Ryan Porzl

Eugene Fadiora vs. Keith Berry
Nickname:                                      The Silencer      |        KO Kid
Height:                                                   6'2             |            6'1
Age:                                                        32             |             25
MMA Record (BMMA):                12-1 (0-0)       |      15-11 (2-1)
Arm Length:                                      Unknown       |        Unknown
Team:                                              Team Supreme  |      Reign Training Center
Weight Class:                                       Middleweight (185 pounds)

Notes: Fadiora's Bellator debut. Berry is replacing Andreas Spang

Preview: Fadiora is riding a three fight win streak. His recent win was over Andrew Punshon by submission at Made 4 The Cage 7 (October 13, 2012). Spang is riding a two fight losing streak. His recent loss was too Doug Marshall by KO at Bellator 89 (February 14, 2013).

Predictions: Fadiora. Fadiora is coming off a year layoff but it may not matter. Fadiora has only lost once and that was to current UFC fighter Gunner Nelson by submission. Fadiora shouldn't worry though since Nelson is a more experienced grappler than Berry who is mostly a striker. Fadiora is also the more well-rounded as he took up karate, kickboxing, and grappling before going into MMA. Fadiora will probably be more comfortable striking as he's never been knocked out while Berry has been knocked out seven times in his career and doesn't have a good chin. Berry is also taking this fight on short notice.

Ron Sparks vs. Siala-Mou Siliga
Nickname:                                    The Monster   |        Mighty Mo
Height:                                                6'5            |           6'1
Age:                                                     38            |            43
MMA Record (BMMA):               8-2 (3-2)      |         4-2 (1-0)
Arm Length:                                       74 in.         |        Unknown
Team:                                          Louisville MMA |    Millennia MMA
Weight Class:                                       Heavyweight (265 pounds)

Notes:

Preview: Sparks is riding a two fight losing streak. His recent loss was to Vitaly Minakov by TKO at Bellator 96 (June 19, 2013). Mo is coming off a win over Dan Charles by TKO at Bellator 100 (September 20, 2013).

Predictions: Mo. Simply put, this is a nightmare for Sparks. Sparks has shown in his last two fights that he doesn't have a good chin. If an opponent hits him hard enough, he will go down quickly. He got knocked out in 40 seconds by Eric Prindle and 32 seconds by Vitaly Minakov. Mo also hits very hard and it won't take much for him to knock Sparks out. While Sparks could catch Mo, the likely scenario is Mo blitzing Sparks and very quickly. Sparks will likely not be able get it to the canvas since he's not a great ground fighter and Mo has an underrated sprawl. Mo also shown in the Dan Charles fight that he's good in the clinch as he not only used dirty boxing but also targeted the stomach which is an underrated target in mixed martial arts.

Ricardo Tirloni vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy
Nickname:                                      None          |                Tiger
Height:                                             5'10           |                5'11
Age:                                                  30             |                  24
MMA Record (BMMA):           16-4 (3-3)     |             24-1 (3-1)
Arm Length:                                Unknown       |                 71 in.
Team:                                         Ataque Duplo  |    RusFighters Sport Club
Weight Class:                                       Lightweight (155 pounds)

Notes: Bellator Season 9 Lightweight Tournament Semifinals

Preview: Tirloni is coming off a win over Chris Clementi by unanimous decision at Bellator 101 (September 27, 2013). Sarnavskiy is riding a four fight win streak. His recent win was over Marcus Davis by submission at Bellator 101 (September 27, 2013).

Predictions: Sarnavskiy. Sarnavskiy is a fighter that hasn't shown much weaknesses in his career. He's a big lightweight, he can knock fighters out, he's got great submissions, and has a background in kickboxing and hand to hand combat. He's also got a good chin and he's never been submitted. Tirloni is a good fighter but losses to Rick Hawn and Dave Jansen make him come off as a fighter that can't make it to the next level. Like most of the RusFighters, Sarnavskiy not only trains in Russia but also in the United States in gyms like Reign Training Center which allows him to learn new techniques.

Saad Awad vs. Will Brooks
Nickname:                                            Assassin     |       Ill Will
Height:                                                    5'10         |        5'10
Age:                                                          30           |         27
MMA Record (BMMA):                   15-5 (3-2)   |    11-1 (3-1)
Arm Length:                                            73 in.       |        71 in.
Team:                                               Millenia MMA | American Top Team
Weight Class:                                        Lightweight (155 pounds)

Notes: Bellator Season 9 Lightweight Tournament Semifinals. Rematch from Bellator 91 (February 28, 2013).

Preview: Awad is coming off a win over Martin Stapleton by submission at Bellator 101 (September 27, 2013). Brooks is coming off a win over John Alessio by unanimous decision at Bellator 101 (September 27, 2013).

Predictions: Awad. Awad has already defeated Will Brooks once before and knows how to beat him. Awad knows if he connects with enough power punches that he will knock Brooks out again. Awad has also shown to have a lot of knockout power and submission skills. Brooks has been saying he's improved since then, has learned to take it one fight at a time, and trains full time with American Top Team but we need to wait and see if that's enough.
