Sadly, today marks a horrible milestone in professional wrestling as it was on this day 20 years ago, the biggest tragedy in wrestling history in my opinion occurred when Owen Hart fell to his death at the Kemper Arena attempting a superhero like entrance at the WWF Over The Edge PPV.
I consider Owen's death the biggest tragedy simply because his death did not occur like so many of his generation as he didn't self-destruct or fall into that partying lifestyle but rather from a scary stunt he should never have done. He was only 34 and left behind a young family of a wife and two small children. Not to mention, he was said to be one of the good guys who stayed faithful to his family, saved his money, and no one rarely had anything bad to say. He had so much more to live for as he was reportedly planning on having a third child, just moved into his dream house a week before his death, and plan to retire young to spend time with his family (though to be fair, very few permanently retire). Career wise, he should've lived long enough to become WWF Champion and his death occurred months before the arrivals of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, and Perry Saturn and you can't help but wonder the dream matches he could've had with them. Owen Hart's death is the best argument in the wrestling business that life isn't fair.
