Tournaments go with MMA like peanut butter and jelly from the first few years of the UFC to PRIDE's famous grand prixes among others. In recent years, MMA's number two American promotion Bellator MMA has begun a combination of recreating the classic grand prixes of Japan along with returning to their tournament roots though unlike the old Bellator tournaments, these grand prixes are held over a period of six to twelve months instead of three months. We saw Bellator do the Heavyweight Grand Prix in 2018 and then a Welterweight tournament that same year. Now, Bellator is gearing up for their third grand prix in September with the Featherweights. We'll take a look at the participants and where they stand going into this, what they have to gain and lose.

Last year I joked that August 25th is the manliest day of the year as Gene Simmons turns 70 while Sean Connery turns 89 today. I suppose feminist out there would refer to this day as "National Toxic Masculinity Day" given they probably hate them but let's face it. If Simmons and Connery represent Toxic Masculinity then men should not want to be clean.

God Of Thunder

Happy 70th Birthday to Gene Simmons.

Every Time R2-D2 Saves the Day

Today would've been the 85th birthday of actor Kenny Baker who played everyone's favorite droid R2-D2 for the first six Star Wars films and was a consultant for R2 in The Force Awakens. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 81 due to illness.

1994 was a big year for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise as it saw the release of three games. The first being the long awaited Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and the second was Sonic and Knuckles which was an innovative game that used locked on technology allowing the player as Knuckles in Sonic 2 while transforming two games into one with Sonic 3. However, a third game also came out that same year that largely flew under the radar likely due to it being only released on the Sega Game Gear and that game was Sonic The Hedgehog: Triple Trouble. With the 25 Anniversary coming in November, we'll take a look at a solid Sonic outing that got overlooked possibly due to a combination of the system is was released on and that fact the franchise was churning out many classics at the time.
